Diversity
Our team name, Soldiers of Technology, comes from our close connection with the military base, Fort Sill. At Great Plains Technology Center, many of the students come from a military background and have a close relationship to the U.S military, so it fits that we illustrate this unique relationship. Like the American Soldier, we are dedicated to our team and exemplify such traits that help make this country great; dedication, honor, and never accepting defeat.
Mission statement
Our mission as Soldiers of Technology is to increase and create an excitement in our community for science, technology, engineering and mathematics through FIRST Robotics.
The Great Plains Technology Center, formerly known as Great Plains Area Vo-tech, was established in 1971, and is focused on education. Both adults and secondary students participate in short term educational training services in fun, interactive ways that promote job readiness. The Tech Center offers classes and schedules that are convenient to members throughout the entire community; flexible schedules and night classes are offered to those who are unable to work in classes in their busy daily schedule.
High schools across Comanche and a portion of Cotton Counties are served over the Great Plains Tech Center. There are 28 programs options in certificate granting full-time programs. 24 program options are offered to Secondary students. Specifically for Great Plains’ high school students, extracurricular activities such as the FIRST Robotics Team, offers the students chances to have first hand experience in the development of a robot; from designing, to constructing, and even marketing, the students work together the building process.
The Soldiers of Technology is a prime example of students bonding together to complete a common task in a limited amount of time. The tremendous support and spirit that this school and team possess has helped Great Plains Technology Center’s renowned Pre-Engineering program grow and advance to a higher level. With amazing project mentors and coordinators, the Soldiers of Technology have been driven for success and pushed into working both efficiently and effectively. Both the mentors and the student body eagerly look forward to this 2011 season for we our proud of our Team 2435 because we know that we are not only building robots, we are also building towards a future of endless possibilities.
